Based on the award-winning novel by Valerie Zinnati.
French born Tal (Agatha Bonitzer) has just moved to Jerusalem with her family and is confronted by the reality of the region’s violence by a suicide bombing. Tal questions the morality of this act of terrorism and her brother, a soldier, puts this message into a bottle and throws it in the sea.
The message is the catalyst for a budding online friendship that develops between a young Israeli girl and a Palestinian boy (Mahmoud Shalabi) who lives with his mother (Hiam Abbass) in Gaza. They must endure an explosive situation that is not of their choosing at an age where young people are falling in love and taking their place in adult life. The challenge is whether their relationship might give them the strength to confront the harsh reality.
